We installed the new router Friday (01/23/04) and increased
the speed for the modems on the two new routers to 3 mbps down and 1 mbps up.
Unfortunately we had substantially more service calls than we had anticipated
which has delayed the speed increase in the final third of the town. Too many
of the computers in the upgraded nodes couldn't receive their new IP address
after a reboot and had to be manually released and renewed.
We did however cut in half the load on the one remaining router that hasn't had
the speed increase, which had the effect of increasing its speed also. Early
Monday morning (02/09/04 at 3 AM) I will reconfigure the remaining router and
increase the speeds to 3 mbps up and 1 mbps down (they are currently still at
1.5 mbps down and 512 kbps up).
The upgraded nodes are: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,36,37,38,39,40,41,42,50

The next big upgrade should allow us to offer 5 mbps down at the same price! Testing for that upgrade will begin in April.
